The Back of the Net is back yet again to preview this weeks action from England.
AFC Bournemouth (19th) Vs Everton (7th): Our view is: Welcome back to form the Toffee’s. Everton have hit some great form recently with Lukaku, Kone and Deulofeu all on the same page and playing wonderful football. However inconsistency has been Everton’s biggest problem and they will be wary of a wounded Bournemouth. The Cherry’s themselves are a team struggling with consistency and will be desperate for 3 points at home. Everton 2-1
Aston Villa (20th) Vs Watford (13th): Our view is: Villa need wins and they need them fast. Bottom of the league and playing like a team with zero confidence, they need a win and they need it BAD!!! Watford on the other hand are playing like a team with nothing to lose. Yes they went down to United, but they went down swinging and that’s what we like to see. Expect a game full of attack and not much defense, Watford 1-0 Winners.
Crystal Palace (10th) Vs Newcastle United (17th): Our view is: Welcome to Steve McLaren’s last game in charge. The fans aren’t happy, big bat Mike Ashlee isn’t either. None of that is good news for big Steve and the gang. Newcastle are dealing with familiar issues and will need to rectify these ASAP if they want to ensure survival. Alan Pardew and the Palace boys are also coming off an ordinary performance against Sunderland. A 1-0 home loss was not what they would have wanted and they will be out to put Pardew’s former employers to the sword. No Sakho for Palace, but they will still win 2-0
Manchester City (3rd) Vs Southampton (8th): Our view is: Two teams not in amazing nick and wanting that winning feel back. City have lost 2 games in a week to Liverpool and Juve, and Southampton are coming off a home loss to Stoke city, a game we had penciled in for a W. City are sorely missing Silva and Kompany and the Saints will look at exploiting those holes. We are pumped for the battle of Pele’ V Kun Aguero, goals galore or so we hope!! Draw 2-2
Sunderland (18th) Vs Stoke (11th): Our view is: Big Sam getting the ball rolling early and getting the Black Cats to play much better football. However if gun striker Jermaine Defoe doesn’t get up for the game, Sunderland are in more trouble than the early settlers. Stoke are floating on the surface but they are paddling like mad under water, so they will be wanting the likes of Shaqiri and Bojan and take the team by the scruff of the neck. We are calling 1-1 Draw (Peter Crouch to score for the potters)
Leicester City (1st) Vs Manchester United 2nd): Our view is: Headline/ Breaking news!!! Leicester City are top of the league!!! Tell me anybody was expecting that 13 weeks into the season!!! Vardy, Mahrez, Albrighton you name them, they are dominating!!!! Exciting end to end, team football at it’s finest. Then we come to Man United, boring Serie A style football. LVG and his team have been widely criticized for what they have served up but still they are 2nd in the league…. Unsociable football at it’s finest? Can Rooney silence the critics? Can Vardy do it again? Pity this game is on at 4:30am AEST, Leicester 2-1 Winners
Tottenham (5th) Vs Chelsea (15th): Our view is: London Derby = Harry Kane goals. This bloke looks at the fixture and pencils in goals against other London teams. Spurs are still unbeaten from Week 1 and are playing sumptuous football. Chelsea on the other hand have turned left down struggle street but is there light at the end of the tunnel? A big win mid week has the blues looking a little bit like their former selves. We want a good contest but we see Spurs taking another step towards league respect. Spurs 2-1 winners.
Liverpool (9th) Vs Swansea City (14th): Our view is: Liverpool are coming of what can only be described as their best football in over a year!!! They were scintillating against City and iced the game in a 30 minute onslaught, but can they do it home? Normally we’d say yes but they new Klopp era has a little issue in front of the home fans. Swansea are needing a win and needing it badly. They will hoping to get on the front foot and put the sometimes shaky Liverpool defense on notice early. Gomis and Ayew always a danger. Liverpool 3-1 Winners
